संचालनालयाची कार्ये

उच्च शिक्षणाचे निदेश राज्य शाखेतील कला, विज्ञान, वाणिज्य, कायदा, शिक्षण आणि नॉन – एआयसीटीई यांच्या संकाळात उच्च शिक्षण संबंधित असणाऱ्या कृषी विद्यापीठांचे व्यवस्थापन आणि त्यांच्या पदवी कॉलेजांच्या जबाबदार्या सोपविण्यात आले. खाली दिलेले चित्र महाराष्ट्रातील उच्च शैक्षणिक व्यवस्थेची स्थिती दर्शवेल.
सन 1 9 6 9 मध्ये राज्य सरकारने 10 + 2 + 3 शिक्षण तंत्र सुरू केले आणि उच्च शिक्षणासाठी राज्यातील वरिष्ठ महाविद्यालयांची सुरूवात केली. 31-10-19 84 रोजी उच्च शिक्षण संचालनालयाच्या स्थापनेनंतर या महाविद्यालयांची संख्या फार वाढली. परिणामी, उच्च शिक्षण संचालकांची प्रशासकीय जबाबदारी मोठ्या प्रमाणावर वाढली आहे आणि पुण्यातील राज्यस्तरीय निदेशालयामधून सर्व महाविद्यालयांचे केंद्रीकृत व्यवस्थापन खूपच कठीण झाले आहे. अशा प्रकारे संघटनेचे विकेंद्रीकरण करण्याची गरज जाणवली ज्यामुळे राज्यातील 10 प्रादेशिक कार्यालये संबंधित क्षेत्रातील महाविद्यालयांच्या कामकाजावर देखरेख ठेवली गेली. प्रादेशिक संयुक्त संचालकांच्या 10 कार्यालये मुंबई, पनवेल, पुणे, कोल्हापूर, सोलापूर, औरंगाबाद, नांदेड, जळगाव, अमरावती आणि नागपूर येथे स्थित आहेत.
The functions of the Directorate are categorized into the following broad categories :
  • Planning and Coordination

  • To prepare consolidated plans and policies in the sphere of Higher Education in the State by the guidelines that the University Grants Commission may issue from time to time, and to assist in their implementation, keeping in view the overall priorities and perspectives of Higher Education in the State;

  • To assist the State Govt. in respect of determination and maintenance of standards and suggest remedial action wherever necessary;

  • To evolve perspective plans for the development of Higher Education in the State;

  • To forward the development programs of Universities and Colleges in the State to the State Govt. along with its comments and recommendations;

  • To monitor the progress of implementation of such developmental programs;

  • To promote cooperation and coordination of the educational institutions among themselves and explore the scope for interaction with industry and other related establishments;

  • To formulate the principles as per the guidelines of the Government and to decide upon, approve and sanction new educational institutions according to permission, keeping in view the various norms and requirements to be fulfilled;

  • To suggest ways and means of augmenting additional resources for Higher Education in the State;

  • Academic Functions

  • To encourage and promote innovations in curricular development, course restructuring, and updating syllabi in the University and the Colleges.

  • To promote and coordinate the Autonomous Colleges program and monitor its implementation.

  • To devise steps to improve the standards of examinations conducted by the Universities and suggest necessary reforms;

  • To facilitate the training of teachers in Colleges and Universities;

  • To develop programs for greater academic cooperation and interaction between University teachers and College teachers and to facilitate mobility of students and teachers within and outside the State;

  • To conduct entrance examinations for admission to institutions of Higher Education and render advice on admissions

  • To conduct sports, games, physical education, and cultural activities in the universities and colleges;

  • To encourage extension activities and promote interaction with agencies with regional planning and development.

  • To prepare an overview report on the working of the universities and the colleges in the State and to furnish a copy of the report to the state Govt.
